Suspension & Steering Diagnostics in Calgary

IDENTIFYING THE SOURCE OF THE SHAKE

Calgary’s potholes wreak havoc on suspension components. When your car starts to wander in its lane, clunk over bumps, or shake at high speeds, it’s not just annoying—it’s unsafe. Suspension diagnostics can be tricky because many parts (ball joints, tie rods, control arms) work together. We perform a physical "shakedown" test to isolate exactly which joint has developed play, ensuring we only replace what is worn, restoring your factory handling and safety.

SIGNS IT’S TIME FOR SUSPENSION DIAGNOSTICS

  • The steering wheel isn't straight when driving straight
  • You hear a "clunk" or rattle when driving over bumps
  • The car feels "floaty" or bounces excessively on the highway
  • The steering feels loose or has excessive "play"
  • Uneven or "cupped" tire wear
  • A squeaking noise when turning the steering wheel

NOISE TELLS THE STORY

The type of sound often points directly to the culprit.

Popping or creaking

A popping or creaking sound when you turn the steering wheel at low speeds (like parking) is often a dry or worn Ball Joint or Strut Mount.

Clunking

A hollow clunking sound when going over speed bumps or driveway curbs usually indicates worn Sway Bar Links or Control Arm Bushings.

IS IT THE ALIGNMENT OR THE PART?

You cannot align a car with worn parts.

Many shops will try to perform a wheel alignment on a car with a loose tie rod, but it won’t hold. We always perform a full suspension diagnostic before an alignment to ensure the adjustment will actually last.
